Sometimes you see something that takes your breath away.
Or something you wish you had done, been a part of, felt. Something transformative that speaks to parts of your soul you’d forgotten, and communicates beauty and magic across eras.
This is the case with this editorial, which appeared in W in May 2002. Featuring a young Natalia Vodianova and photographed by Carter Smith, it made my eyes wide. Exquisite, non?
This commitment to creating something truly breathtaking, and the vastness of the story it tells, remind me of the fabled Vogue editorial that Wintour and Coddington famously butted heads over in The September Issue.
